PROCEDURES OFFERED FOR BACK PAIN

Epidural Injections

Minimally invasive injections into the epidural fluid surrounding the spinal cord. These injections can help to reduce inflammation and back pain related to a number of conditions including sciatica, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, failed back surgery and radiculopathy.

Kyphoplasty

This procedure is used to treat stress fractures that usually occur in bones weakened by osteoporosis. Kyphoplasty treats these fractures by making space in the bone that was lost when the bone collapsed, then filling that space with a solid, cement-like mixture.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Mesenchymal stem cells and platelet rich plasma (PRP) exist naturally inside the various tissues in our bodies. When tissue damage occurs, mesenchymal stem cells and PRP have the ability to localize to the damaged area and enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Trigger Point Injections

Injection of local anesthetic, saline or corticosteroid into knots in muscles often called trigger points. The injection helps to relieve the knot and associated back pain.

Spinal Cord Stimulation

Delivers a mild electrical stimulation to nerves along the spinal cord and helps reduce chronic back pain conditions by masking the pain signals from reaching your brain.

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Using radio waves to deliver heat to targeted nerve tissues to reduce chronic back pain conditions such as degenerative discs. The heat impairs the nerve and disturbs the transmission of pain signals from the spinal column to the brain.

Peripheral Nerve Block

Injection of an anesthetic near a specific bundle of nerves to block the sensation of back pain.

Facet Joint Injections

Injection of a small dose of anesthetic and steroid directly into your facet joint to block chronic back pain. This approach will help you tolerate back pain better so you can participate in rehabilitative physical therapy.

Dr. Edgar Ramirez

MD, DABAPM

Dr. Edgar Ramirez at B3 Medical in Tampa, FL

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ramirez co-founded B3 Medical with a specific agenda to create a new and innovative approach to treating patients who suffer from intense and chronic pain.

Recognized as a leader in the practice of Interventional Pain Management, and frustrated by the current system that relies on opioids and prescription medications to mask a patient’s pain, Dr. Ramirez decided to create a new regimen of safe and effective minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures that get to the source of the pain. This allows him to identify the cause of the pain and correct the problem to provide true long-term pain relief.

Dr. Ramirez is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, with a sub-certification of Pain Medicine (Anesthesiology) from the University of Florida. As the Medical Director at B3 Medical, Dr. Ramirez is a leader in all aspects of Interventional Pain Management including Nerve Blocks, Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), Percutaneous Decompression and Spinal Cord Stimulation.

A family man, Dr. Ramirez is a Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Gator fan and an avid boater. He was born and raised in Ft. Bragg, NC and loves living and practicing medicine in Florida.
